In March of 2015 Full Pull Productions was invited to a meeting in Ohio to discuss the possibility of bringing a new class under the USA-EAST sanctioning body for the upcoming season. At the meeting it was hoped that at least twelve tractors in this new division would participate in the inaugural season.
WOW. The all-new Classic Hot Rod V-8 Tractor class had 28 members in its first season with USA-EAST and on one evening in July a total of 24 of those members came together to participate. What a way to start a new class!!!!
Hot Rod V-8 Tractors are built on older style tractor frames with high-powered single V-8 engines from automobiles and light trucks. The frame and sheet metal must be pre-1972 to be legal. By rule all engines may be no larger than 521 cubic inches. So it is not uncommon to see a Massy-Harris 44 with a 472 cubic inch Cadillac motor or a Case 600 with a 478 built up Chevrolet engine. This is where the appeal to the class lies.
Individual owners can choose their combination. They can prepare their tractor within the rules to their own specification. And they can now compete in major league pulling events with USA-EAST.
Dean Kibler from Hanoverton, Ohio emerged as the first-ever USA-EAST Champion in the Classic Hot Rod V-8 division in 2015. His 1957 Case 600 with a 518 cubic inch Chevrolet power proved the best after a long and arduous season. This tractor still sports the original chain drive rear end but his been completely restored and now has the name “Good Vibrations”.
The runner up in this hotly contested division in 2015 was the 1960 Allis Chalmers D-17 of Leslie and John Pitts from Minerva, Ohio named “Outlaw Alice”. It also had a Chevrolet 518 cubic inch engine for power.
Cen.Pe.Co. Lubricants provided end-of-season bonus bucks to the Hot Rod V-8 division in 2015. The Central Petroleum Company of Cleveland, Ohio and Wolcott, Iowa has been a consistent supporter of this class since it began.
